Meet the artist behind dhSeadragon Distinctive Designs…
Dadra Hunt … aka ‘dhSeadragon’
Dadra Hunt has been sculpting metal under the pseudonym dhSeadragon, for many years. She says, “Creating art has always been a passion of mine and metal work seems to resonate with me the most. I love taking hard, seemingly impassive, sheets of metal and watching the face of a dog, or the wings of a bird emerge from their metallic beginnings”. She is particularly fond of working with steel, but sometimes works with aluminum, brass, and copper as well. She gives life to her art by incorporating multiple techniques such as: layering, texturing, shaping, and color. Sometimes other elements are added such as stained glass, beads, and feathers.
She has created many different types of metal sculptures from large, abstract pieces, to smaller, more intricate works of art. Her art has evolved over time as she honed her craft to portray very realistic representations of pets, birds, and wildlife. “I have tried my hand at projects such as gates, doors, and furniture, but it is with the creation of distinctive wildlife sculptures and custom pet portraits that I feel I have found my niche.”
When not in the studio working on the next dhSeadragon Distinctive Design, she can be found out on a hiking trail, or playing on the water, enjoying the wonders of Mother Nature. “I feel fortunate to have been able to see so many beautiful things in this world. My art is a reflection of the sights, words, and ideas that I internalize and carry with me”.
“My dogs often accompany me on my adventures. They are a big part of my life and cheerleaders of my art. Naturally I had to create art that revolved around them.” dhSeadragon For Furry Friends contains pet related art, while Stately Statues houses her wildlife sculptures.
As a supporter of people and places that care for, and find homes for less fortunate pets, or help rehabilitate and protect wildlife, a portion of all proceeds goes to one of her favorite pet or wildlife charities.
